A Modern Take on the Classic Steel Tourer with clearance for 50mm tyres (40mm with mudguards)

Built with premium Columbus Zona tubing, the Shand Stoater is our response to the uninspiring steel touring bikes of the past. Designed to blend speed, stability, and load-carrying capability, the Stoater proves you no longer have to compromise performance for practicality.

Thanks to a carefully considered geometry and tubeset, the Stoater delivers a fast, confident ride whether you’re fully loaded on an Alpine tour or off the beaten track.. This is a truly versatile machine, capable of adapting to your riding needs year-round.

At its core, the Stoater frame is built around the flat mount disc brake standard, with a 12mm thru-axle up front and a Paragon Polydrop rear dropout. This modular dropout design allows for incredible drivetrain flexibility—compatible with Rohloff hubs, singlespeed setups, or a Gates Carbon Belt Drive, alongside traditional derailleur systems.

Whether you’re exploring backroads, racing the seasons, or commuting with confidence, the Stoater is built to do it all—with style, speed, and reliability.

Made for touring with luggage, commuting and year-round riding where comfort and carrying come first. If you want the lightest, quickest bike in the range, choose the Stramash or the Stooshie.

What owners say

Stoater with 105 11sp and hyd disks. Amazing paint. Beautiful welds. Perfect geometry. It just plain carves corners. I’m a big strong guy and this thing is stiff. The staff were great to work with. It’s not often that you buy a bike and you get to talk with the owner of the company and he actually has a laugh or two with you.

This is my Shand, a Stoater Rohloff, lightweight steel frame, 14 speed Rohloff Speedhub gearing, Gates carbon belt drive and hydraulic disc brakes. S and S frame couplings so I can travel with the bike on the plane. Very yummy. The quality is exceptional and I love riding it. Thanks Shand.
